Teens' Machine Takes Microplastics from Water

Plastic is everywhere. We drink from plastic bottles. We carry the items we
buy in plastic bags. Even parts of our homes are made of plastic!
塑膠到處都有，我們用塑膠瓶喝水。我們買的東西裝在塑膠袋裡面，甚至房屋的一部份都是塑膠做的!

These big plastic items are easy to see. But there are plastics that are too
small to see. The biggest are five millimeters long. They are microplastics.
但是除了這些，還有小到肉眼看不見的塑膠微粒，最大的也只有五毫米長。

And they are everywhere! They're on top of mountains! They're at the bottom
of the ocean. They're in the water we drink. *gasp!* So they're in our
bodies!
到處都有塑膠微粒! 山上有，海底也有，還會跟著飲用水跑進我們身體裡，天啊!

Scientists say we eat or drink two thousand pieces of microplastics every
week! They say this is very bad for our health.

Scientists have been trying to take microplastics out of our drinking water
for a long time. But nothing has worked. And everything they've tried has
been too expensive.
科學家說，我們每星期會吃進或者喝進肚子裡兩千個塑膠微粒，對身體很不好。科學家努力想除去飲用水裡的塑膠微粒，但方法都太貴了。

Now two seventeen-year-old kids have made a machine. Scientists say it can
take most microplastics out of water! It's cheap and easy to use.
現在兩個十七歲的少年做出了機器，能除掉水裡大部分的塑膠微粒 !
不只如此，它還便宜又好用。

These kids found a great way to take microplastics out of our water!
