Sea Otters Do Important Work

Sea otters are cute, furry animals. They look like teddy bears. They eat a
lot. They rest on their backs on the ocean. What a nice life!
海獺是一種毛茸茸的可愛動物，每天吃完東西就仰躺在海上休息，好休閒 !

Sea urchins are another ocean animal. They are small, round, and spiky. Ouch!
They live on the ocean floor.
海膽是另一種海洋生物，很像一顆顆長滿了尖刺的小圓球，住在海底。

Sea urchins eat kelp. Kelp is a big, brown seaweed. Kelp grows in kelp
forests. But sometimes there are too many sea urchins. And they can eat all
of a kelp forest.
海膽喜歡吃一種大的咖啡色海藻。但有時太多的海膽會把海藻吃光 !

Fish, crabs, and other ocean animals live in kelp forests. What happens when
all of a kelp forest is eaten? Many of these small ocean animals don't have a
home. And big ocean animals don't have small ocean animals to eat!
海藻林如果被吃光，
住在裡面的魚、螃蟹和小型生物無家可歸，大型海洋生物就沒有小型生物可以吃了!

But, don't worry, sea otters are saving kelp forests! They eat lots of sea
urchins. They love them!
但別擔心! 海獺會拯救海藻林，因為牠們最愛吃海膽了。

Sea otters are the ocean's cleaners. Too many sea urchins or other animals is
not good for the ocean. Sea otters come to the rescue!
海獺是海底的清道夫，如果出現太多海膽，牠們就會來幫忙!

Sea otters do important work. They help keep kelp forests healthy. They help
ocean animals too... or eat them!
