A Wise Old Owl

A Wise Old Owl

by Edward Hersey Richards

A wise old owl lived in an oak;

The more he saw the less he spoke;

The less he spoke the more he heard:

Why can’t we all be like that bird?

There’s a Neat Little Clock

Traditional Mother Goose

There’s a neat little clock

In the schoolroom it stands

And it points to the time

With its two little hands.

And may we, like the clock,

Keep a face clean and bright,

With hands ever ready

To do what is right.
